ABOUT NORTH COAST TANG SOO DO
Tang Soo Do, known as Korean karate, is a Korean Martial Art that can be dated back two thousand years. The main theories and principles continue to be incorporated into the practice of modern Tang Soo Do. The main thrust of our activities involves training every week and preparing for grading giving students the opportunity of belt progression. The Art integrates intellect, emotion, body and spirit promoting confidence, discipline, self defence, endurance and body conditioning. Our club’s activities heighten our members’ physical self-esteem or self-concept promoting feelings of self-efficacy, self-determination and self-control. Our club embodies a pro-social ethos combating anti-social behaviour, social inclusion and mental strength.
Tang Soo Do includes all people and the diverse nature of the Martial Art creates a platform to develop self-defence skills in a modern society. We have conducted children’s classes, female self-defence classes, fitness & flexibility programmes to ensure there’s something for everybody!

CLASSES AND DEVELOPMENT
The Only Limits Are The Limits You Set Yourself

Club instructors are direct students of Irish & European chief instructor Grandmaster S. Nar. Master Martin Meehan is a 4th degree black belt & Sorcha Meehan is a 3rd degree black belts. Junior instructors Donall & Dominic Meehan are 3rd & 2nd degree black belts respectively. Our instructors have a huge amount of teaching experience. The whole family have represented Ireland in many tournaments whilst Master Meehan & Donall are former European Grand Champions.
Tang Soo Do creates a platform to develop self-defence skills in a modern society. It reaches out to all members of the community. Classes are structured to meet the needs of all practitioners and are conducted in a safe and friendly environment. As part of an outreach schools program we have conducted children’s classes focussing on fundamental movement skills and concentration.We have also conducted female self-defence classes, fitness & flexibility programmes to ensure there’s something for everybody. There are free fighting classes and opportunities to participate in tournaments at national and international level.
